Counseling Center for AIDS
The project was implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Health to raise awareness and prevention of AIDS among students in Sudanese universities. The project was funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Is the Sudanese Society for Community Development.
Eight universities were selected to implement this project, including the University of Khartoum, and the duration of implementation of this project in the universities was 6 months as a pilot period. To implement this project, 7 cadres from the Deanship of Student Affairs were trained (1 project coordinator, 2 psychologists, 2 social researchers and 2 laboratory technicians) , And received these cadres intensive training courses in the field of psychological counseling and voluntary examination and prevention and the fundamentals of the requirements of the implementation of the project to provide outstanding service within the University, and after the completion of theoretical and field training and exchange of experiences between universities participating in this area opened the Center for Psychological Counseling and Voluntary Examination Khartoum on 26/4/2012 at the Deanship of Student Affairs.
The Center contains a section on information on AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases (posters, posters, pamphlets and leaflets) as well as the psychological counseling section that provides counseling services for AIDS before and after the examination. The laboratory, which provides the voluntary examination service supervised by laboratory technicians, Services are strictly confidential and the examination is voluntary and free.
Within the framework of this project, the University has organized a number of activities, including workshops and training courses for students at the university, and advocacy workshops and open days in the four university compounds. The training courses included university professors, administrators, guards and workers. Lectures and discussion groups on HIV were held in the four university faculties and faculties. Roaming AIDS.
This project has a wide resonance and a great role in spreading awareness and knowledge among the students and the university family on AIDS. This is confirmed by the increasing number of volunteers for the examination, and the center continues to provide services in this field. The project is currently adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khartoum under the supervision of the students' Deanship, the project headquarters and where there is the Psychological Counseling and Voluntary Testing Center.
